Men have asked me this question all my life and women do not like my answer usually. Personally, I think if the woman hits a man, he has every right to hit her back. (as long as he did nothing to deserve it) Not harder, but just enough to let her know he isn’t taking her shit. One of my friends, when we were in our 20’s, thought it was funny to haul off and punch her boyfriend in the arm real hard, for no reason. And her and I worked out all the time and played lots of sports, so she was not a wimp by any means.
Her punches hurt. He was 6′4, she was 5′0. I would always tell him “hit her back just once, she’ll stop.” She used to do that to me when we were kids and I would haul off and punch her back just as hard. She stopped that real quick. lol But he was such a gentleman, still is. He wouldn’t. They are happily married now (31 years now) and of course she stopped doing it after they were together a while, but why he never hit her back is beyond me. I mean I love this guy and respect him and think he is one of the few men I would call a perfect man.
Maybe that is one of the things that make him perfect. He never has or would disrespect a woman in any way. But did he have the right to hit her back? Yes, I believe so. Luckily my friend grew up I guess and realized what a prize she had.
